Tips and Tricks
Tired of hard brushes after using your stiffener!
Try this - see pictures below. The brush stays soft for a couple of days.
How to sew vinyl
Use a teflon foot and tape wax paper on your machine.
The foot allows you to have the sticky side up and the foot glides right over the top but when you sew brims of double vinyl this is not enough. So try the wax paper. Make a little square were the foot is. Good luck!
How to use our stiffener
Always shake the bottle very well before you start using the stiffener. Put a little bit in a jar and with a brush you put a little stiffiner on the material.
With a brush put a little on the material and let it dry. The stiffener will be white when it is not yet dry. Please do not touch it. It will be sticky. Before you use the stiffener we assume that you blocked it and ironed it on the mould. When you take your creation of the block and there is still a little shiny on the inside you can always take that away with a little stiffener.
With felt, steam your felt and put it on the block. When dry take the felt of the block and brush a little stiffener on the inside. Let it dry. You can put the form back on the mould if necessary and if necessary steam again and let it dry. You can also use the stiffener on the crusial area's by using it this way your hat is more flexibel and less stiff.
